Rep. Correa Introduces Bill To Name Post Office After Specialist Trevor A. Win’E
Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Lou Correa introduced legislation to name fallen soldier Specialist Trevor A. Win’E’s hometown post office after him. The U.S. Post Office is located at 1075 N. Tustin Street in Orange, California.
Spc. Win’E joined the Army in 2002. Win’E volunteered and chose to deploy to Iraq with his company over a safer assignment in Korea.
“This young man’s bravery and courage is an inspiration. When given the opportunity to serve, Spc Win’E volunteered to go where he was needed most. He put his country and his fellow soldiers first. He is an honor to his country,” said Rep. Correa.
On April 30, 2004, while serving in the lead truck of a military convoy, Spc. Win’E suffered critical injuries from an attack by an improvised explosive device in Tikrit, Iraq. The following day, at age 22, Win’E died from injuries sustained during that attack.
Rick and Debi Win’E, Spc. Win’E’s parents, said, “We are deeply honored and humbled to have our son, Spc. Trevor Win’E, be remembered for his selfless sacrifice to this great country by the renaming of the Tustin Branch Post Office in Orange, Ca. To know that his sacrifice is not forgotten means so much to us, his family.”
Rep. Correa said, “This young man’s sacrifice is a loss for his community and our country, but he will not be forgotten. I hope this Post Office serves as a way to carry on his legacy and remind future generations of the importance of selflessness and honor.”
